Free Rice is a cool website.  I played this word association game and was able to donate 500 grains of rice.  One correct word equals 20 grains of rice. the website claims that 5,027,880 grains of rice donated yesterday.

the Kite Runner

This movie, blew me away.  It was so compelling, gripping, and inspiring.  I know i say "best ever" quite a bit on this blog, but it just might be one of the best movies i have ever seen.

It was an emotional story of two young friends that grew up in Afghanistan in the 1970's when the country was on the brink of war with Russia.  It told a story of the consequences of betrayal and the soul's longing for reconciliation.  It is a must see, but to forewarn you, Mike and I cried through it all.

This is a fun website.  it is called WORDIE.  I created the above word collage.  You can go to this site and type in any words that you like, pick fonts, style, color and it puts it in a collage for you.  Then you can print it out for your own personal art if you want.  Try it out, it is fun!

day two and three

We started on the walls of our master bedroom.  When you do the project yourself, it takes much longer, plus it has been raining every afternoon here.  Which is much needed, so that is ok!  It is raining now as i Type.

  Caeden wanted to pose in this picture, he saw me taking pictures and said, "Ya wanna take a picture of this, mom?"

This is the back wall of the bedroom and the open space will be a big window.  The next picture is the side wall.  

While Mike and Maurice were working outside,  my boys, Aspen, and Addie were playing circus.  Owen isn't too crazy about posing with the animal masks.  But he was the giraffe.  Is that not the cuteset hippo you have ever seen?

FIREWORKS

Happy 4th of July.  Caeden and I joined the Ives for a really late night of fireworks at Miromar Outlet.  It was Caeden's first time seeing fireworks for the 4th.  Mike was sick, so he and Owen stayed home.

This is Addie, she and Heather had to watch the fireworks in the car, because she did not care for the noise.

Caeden and Aspen were covering their ears too, when they weren't hugging! :)

Frozen dessert

Ingredients

Makes 8

• 1 pint (2 cups) strawberries, hulled
• 4 nectarines (1 to 1 1/2 pounds total), halved, pitted, and cut into chunks
• 1/2 cup sugar

Directions

1. In a blender, puree strawberries, nectarines, and sugar until smooth. Pressing with a spoon or rubber spatula, pass mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a glass measuring cup (discard solids).
2. Pour mixture into eight 3-ounce pop molds. Insert sticks, then freeze until firm, at least 4 hours and up to 1 week.

Martha Never disappoints.  These are perfect for summer and a great substitute for juice pops.

Say Hola to Spanish at the Circus

El libro favorito esta semana.  The boys liked the rhyming and the funny animals (a shark eating hot dogs) and i am so thrilled to be introducing spanish little by little to their young brains.  I still have a long way to go with my language skills, but it has always been a goal of mine to speak fluently and i need to stop procrastinating.  By teaching the kids, i learn to.

Heather (my sis) introduced the book to me.  They are planning on joining YWAM and moving to Bariloche, Argentina.  Aprendemos Espanol juntos.
