Great Day

This morning over breakfast the boys and I discussed SIN and how it separates us from GOD. It's one of those things that I pour my heart out and use too many words, but never really know if they are listening or retaining anything Then on the drive to school today, I wanted to explain myself one more time about our converstation. I told C that if he asks Jesus into his heart he will receive all of God's power. It ended with Caeden praying with me to ask Jesus into his heart. It was so awesome. I know that he is really young and might not fully understand everything this entails, but we as parents want to celebrate it and encourage him in his new Faith. If you are reading this, please say a prayer for him and us.

Tonight at bedtime, we were discussing Noah and the Ark.
Me: "what did Noah and his family do after they stepped off the ark?"
Caeden: " SIN"
haha i was hoping he would say, worship God, but saying SIN makes me realize that he was in fact listening to me at the breakfast table.

Here is a video of that last few weeks of caeden in his BMX class.
it has been so much fun to watch.

Grinning in Pordenone

Pordenone, Italy:
filled with great cobblestone streets, people dressed head to toe in the latest fashions, delicious coffee shops, and a little boy who likes to pose with his hand in his mouth!

Picking Pears

Fiume Venetto, a lovely and quiet, little town north of Venice, Italy. In my sister's yard there are pear trees, walnut trees, and hazelnut trees. Owen really liked the pears.

BMX clinic

Week 2

Some may say: cool, supportive mom
Some may say poser
But, He made BMX class look so easy
and although it might sound cheesy, I gave it a try too!
No, I wasn't any good at it, but just like Owen practicing his football form
If we keep it up, we might get to race
Down the steep hill at the start of the track
Pumping our arms and legs, learning to do a bike dance
round the curves, through the rhythm, up the hills, to the finish .
We were tired, thirsty, sweaty, and sore, but we enjoyed the thrill together and most of all, Survived.

p.s. we passed out homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies at the end to all the parents and kids from the cl!ss (made with gluten free flour, which i did not mention to anyone) they were scrumptious !

10 things i am eating & loving right now

1., 2. 3. Almonds, Almond Milk, and Almond Flour

Everything almonds, they are rich in Vit. E and gluten free and so verstatile.

4. Agave Nectar
a lot like honey and used in replacement of sugar

5. Pure Maple Syrup
Why did i ever buy any other but pure?

6. Xocai Chocolate
have only had it in free samples, but it is the "healthy chocolate" so they say
a "super food"
eat it 3 times a day
OK

7. Smart Water
Not only because i want to look like Jennifer Aniston, but i like the water and i usually seem to find it for $1 a bottle and they are big bottles.

8. Shallots
I have used them a lot lately in cooking and it makes for a really great ingredient in salad dressing.

9. flax seeds

I have put them in salads, smoothies, and cereal.

10. Rice Based Protein Power
this isn't necessarily the brand i use but i have been using it in my breakfast smoothies.
maybe i should have included smoothies in this list too. i love them that is for sure.

BMX clinic

Week One:

Rental helmet: $2
long sleeve shirt: vintage hand-me-down by Dad
pants: old jeans
bike: His birthday gift
Feeling Nostalgic while our super excited 4 year old boy races around a track: priceless

See the boy racing on his tee? It is Mike when he was 4 years old
That tee is about 30 years old and still in good condition

It is time!
Time for Mike to pass the baton and and hand down his love for BMX down to the next generation. It is time for C to experience the thrill of being a boy who can race as fast as his legs will take him.

On Tues. nights at 6 pm the Naples BMX track has a clinic for beginners. The instructor is a patient and skilled man named Ray. The class consisted of two 4 yr. old boys and two 8 yr. old boys of varying skill levels.

We watched and cheered from outside the fence, while keeping this crazy kid entertained.

The started with the fundamentals:
1)Pedal as hard as you can down hill, on the curves, and on the straightaway
2)Do NOT pedal uphill.
3)Stand up on the bike at all times
4)Learn how to stand and coast without pedaling

Note to self: purchase some exercise pants for my son. Each time he tried to mount his bike, his jeans would get stuck on his seat and he needed help getting his leg over. So cute to watch!
Next they attempted the Ramp
and got some one-on-one training

Finally:
time to tackle the Track

By this time, they had been practicing for over an hour and the sun had gone down. These last two pictures are a little too dark. He raced the entire track twice without falling and without stopping. It was amazing to watch. I should have taken a picture of the elated face and the sweat drenched head after coming off the track. "Can we do that every week?" he asked.

I am thinking about creating a New Blog all about the BMX experience as a family getting started in the sport. A place for parents to find out tips, information and how to get involved. There is nothing out there like this now.
Anyone have a great idea for the Name of this new BLog?
